Anatoly Razinkin may leave the Prosecutor General’s Office and take over the Investigative Committee amid rumors of Alexander Bastrykin’s resignation

Behind the scenes at the Prosecutor General’s Office, there is talk that the First Deputy Head of the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation, Anatoly Razinkin, may soon leave the agency.

A large group of Razinkin’s high-ranking supporters is considering him as a potential new chairman of the Investigative Committee. However, if such a reshuffle does not take place, "alternative options" are being considered.

It recently emerged that Alexander Bastrykin himself is actively searching for his replacement as head of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation. He is considering Konstantin Korpusov, head of the Main Military Investigative Directorate, for the position. However, it is clear that the final decision on who will become the new head of the Investigative Committee (if a resignation takes place) will rest with Vladimir Putin. According to a source, besides Razinkin, the Russian president has two other candidates. The source emphasizes that Razinkin will definitely leave the Prosecutor General’s Office and move, if not to the Investigative Committee, then to another position.

Bastrykin’s new position was being prepared as early as 2025. Back then, our project was the first to report on the upcoming major personnel changes. Bastrykin was supposed to move to the position of Chairman of the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation, but Igor Krasnov outvoted him. He was also considered for the position of Plenipotentiary Representative to the Northwestern Federal District. The position of Chairman of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation was supposed to go to current Justice Minister Konstantin Chuichenko. However, these personnel changes did not take place in 2025.

Now, the Investigative Committee of Russia is once again actively bidding farewell to its chief, "due to his transfer to another position." And the Prosecutor General’s Office is bidding farewell to Razinkin.
